Lavastone from millions of years ago reaches the surface then erosion creates this wall-like figures. This place is also close to Keetmanshoop. 
Wild horses in the desert near Aus. They are the descendants of military horses which the Germans left behind in World War I. It's amazing that they survive in such a climate.  Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world. Only the Grand Canyon in Arizona is bigger.  The Canon Roadhouse near Fish River Canyon has a lot of old cars parked around.  Because of the heavy rainfall in April 2011 there are parts of the desert coverd with beautifull flowers, like these.  Springbok near the Sossusvlei. 
A large area is Sperrgebiet: For protecting diamond rich soil or to protect the nature.  Saltpans near Luderitz.  Sand and stone desert on our way to Luderitz.  Colony of seals at Cape Cross near Swartkopmund.  Inside the Sossusvlei there are remains of Acacia trees which died long ago.
